New north office is ready for business

Schaan (FL), September 6, 2021 – The first Hilti employees began moving into the new North Office Building at headquarters at the start of this week. The new building marks another milestone in the modernization of Hilti Corporate Headquarters. The final construction phase of this modernization can now begin.

“It is our aspiration to create a contemporary and inspiring working environment for our employees. The open and flexible atmosphere is designed to facilitate personal exchanges in everyday business, ensuring that fresh impulses and new ideas can emerge while also taking well-being into consideration,” says Executive Board Member Jahangir Doongaji.

The spatial concept is designed according to the latest findings and meets requirements for the digital workplace of the future. Open-space office areas promote communication and ensure short distances. These areas are complemented by meeting zones and retreat areas that allow for focused work. The flexible desk principle allows employees to choose their workplace according to their tasks and needs. The new building has external dimensions of 117 x 32 meters and accommodates some 450 workstations on four floors.

A centerpiece in the North Office Building is the company restaurant "Heats," which offers predominantly vegetarian and vegan dishes. This expanded offering places a much greater focus on the different dietary needs of employees. The Heats concept is part of the overall health management strategy at headquarters. In terms of catering, the strategy focuses on providing a balanced offering of food options. Another element of promoting better health is the building’s fitness room which is large enough to host group training sessions.

The North Office Building is certified according to the Swiss Minergie-P standard, and thereby meets the highest standards in terms of energy efficiency and comfort. A heating network, created from waste heat gained from the production facility and other buildings, is used to heat the North Office. The demand for potable water has also been reduced as rainwater is collected in a large tank and then used to flush toilets and to water the landscaping areas. As is the case at all Hilti sites, the electricity used in the new building is drawn from 100 percent from renewable sources.

Once employees have fully moved into the North Office, the final stages in the modernization of the Group's headquarters will begin. At the end of November, work will begin on dismantling the old North Office complex which will give way to the Campus Park. The Campus Park will include green spaces and both open and covered recreation areas. According to current plans, the entire Hilti Campus will be completed by May 2023.
