How we work with our business partners

The success of our products is directly linked to our suppliers’ excellence; therefore we work with our suppliers as partners.

At Hilti we choose suppliers based on their quality, ability to innovate, availability, and cost-effectiveness.
Our Business Units oversee supply management for direct procurement, such as raw materials, parts used in our manufacturing process, and allied manufacturers.
Our Finance Department oversees indirect procurement; handling supplies and services essential for our daily operations.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPPLIERS

How to qualify as a Hilti supplier

We welcome suppliers as an integral part of our process and choose them in a FIVE-step process.

  • Registration: Registration on SAP Ariba is the minimum requirement to demonstrate compliance (e.g., Code of Conduct), assess sustainability commitments and exchange information (including quotes) with Hilti
  • Pre-selection: a preliminary evaluation via pre-audit and cost assessment.
  • Evaluation: a more detailed evaluation and product qualification, agreeing to a contract and objectives.
  • Product qualification: a process audit to ensure that legal, approval, safety, and environmental requirements are met. The product is then released for production.
  • Development: Working together in alignment with our key principles.

 

We require our suppliers to review and adhere to the policies mentioned below. We value suppliers who share our commitment to quality, innovation, efficiency and sustainability. Our key principles are:

  • Quality: Adherence to ISO 9001 or ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 140001 standards is a must.
  • Efficiency: Competitive pricing and continuous improvement are of outmost importance; we require our suppliers to use digital platforms enabling efficient and compliant exchange of information; we request proof of financial stability and appropriate risk management strategies. Contractually, we set goals for quality and productivity in long-term partnerships.
  • Technology: We strive for technological and innovation excellence and expect our suppliers to be leaders in their field.
  • Sustainability: We expect our suppliers to adhere to our Code of Conduct for Suppliers and to meet all applicable compliance and sustainability requirements. Equally important to us is their active collaboration in reducing the product carbon footprint across our value chain. 
  • Execution: Our customer-oriented business expects our suppliers to ensure outstanding product availability and efficient stock management for reliable delivery.
