6. Professional Services
The following Professional Services are available for and or related to the Services and shall be performed by Hilti, provided that Customer has ordered them accordingly:
6.1. Laboratory testing: Concrete Maturity Testing, to be performed by Hilti Concrete Sensors:
Hilti Concrete Sensors will provide maturity testing for one or more customer-requested concrete mix designs. The results of this maturity testing will be made accessible as a selectable Mix Design entry in the Hilti Concrete Sensors app for use by the customer.
Customer obligations:
1. For each concrete mix to be tested at Hilti Concrete Sensors Laboratory (HCSL), the following must be provided:
a. Complete submittal and engineer approval for use in the project.
b. List of wet and dry ingredients used in the mix by quantity (examples: pound per cubic yard, oz per 100cwt).
c. Confirmation from the ready mix plant (RMP) of the correct chemical dosages. The intent is for HCSL to test the mix as close to what will be poured as possible.
d. Customer is required to provide available historic break data for the mixes to be tested.
e. If the estimated in-app strength is needed for:
i. Beyond 18 hours after initial pouring or
ii. Beyond 24 hours after initial pouring
f. Expected first pour date that the customer will use each mix.
2. Hilti Concrete Sensors will provide a list of materials and quantities needed from the Customer and/or Customer’s Supplier. The list will include:
a. Quantities of dry materials by weight (and approximate number of full 5-gallon buckets).
b. Quantities of wet chemicals by volume.
3. The Customer is responsible for ensuring the wet and dry materials, in the quantities and condition specified, are delivered to HCSL from the Customer or Customer’s RMP.
4. After testing is complete, and for as long as Customer uses the tested mix designs with Hilti Concrete Sensors, Customer will ensure the delivered concrete is consistent with the tested mix design and the Hilti Concrete Sensors software (§ 9.5.4 of ASTM C1074-19) by using the following verification process:
a. In addition to typical cast cylinders on site, 2 additional cylinders will be cast with included Hilti Concrete Sensors.
b. These additional cylinders will be kept with the set - but never crushed.
c. Customer will verify the estimated concrete strength of these instrumented cylinders match the crushed cylinders at the time of crush.
5. Customer will ensure they select the correct mix design for the concrete being poured when using Hilti Concrete Sensors.
Customer will discontinue using Hilti Concrete Sensors for strength estimation and notify Hilti immediately if the concrete mix design changes, or if the verification process in 4 does not match strength expectations in the submittal.
Hilti Concrete Sensors Laboratory responsibilities:
1. HCSL will test** the concrete mix in accordance with ASTM C1074-19. Once batched, the testing will be completed within 90 days, unless otherwise specified on the Order Form, for data collection and analysis. Testing will include:
a. Development of a refence curve as outlined in § 8 of ASTM C1074-19.
i. Use of historical data (1.d) will be incorporated in final reference curve.
b. Measurement of the temperature sensitivity as outlined in § X1 of ASTM C1074-19.
2. HCSL will analyze the data and add the tested mix(es) to the Hilti Concrete Sensors app, to be selected by the Customer
3. When the instrumented cylinders are updated and the break data is provided, HCSL will generate a verification report.
When HCSL testing is complete, mixes will be included in the software database. Sensors can now estimate strength of in-place concrete. RMP must be providing the correct mix and the correct mix must be selected in the app.
**note: If the desired mix to be tested changes from 1, a new approved submittal must be provided to HCS before HCSL will begin batching. If there are significant changes, more materials may be required to be shipped to HCSL
