Better Decisions Start with Better Data

Hilti’s Product Impact Analyzer makes CO₂ data available to guide real project decisions

Produced by Hilti Group | 4 November 2026

Every day, construction project teams are juggling multiple priorities at once. Cost, speed, supply chain stability and the push for AI are dominating everyday decisions. At the same time, expectations around sustainability and transparency continue to rise.

It has become clear that sustainability can create value if it helps make better decisions. But this can only happen when the right data is available at the right moment.

Hilti’s Product Impact Analyzer, our response to this growing need, has been recognized with a SEAL Sustainability Award. Let’s take a closer look at how this service can help turn CO₂ data into better project choices.

Product Impact Analyzer data

Right data at the right moment

“For all our customers with sustainability targets or reporting requirements, CO₂ transparency has become a prerequisite for doing business. Many customers are committed to reducing carbon emissions. But their challenge is usually accessing usable data at the moment when decisions are made.” Graham Barry, Technical Project Manager for the Product Impact Analyzer.

During the design phase, CO₂ data is often missing or difficult to compare. As a result, teams rely on what they know best, such as cost, performance and availability. In some cases, better data becomes available later in the project. But by then, key design choices have already been established. Changing course would mean going back to redesigning the project and taking on additional cost and effort. So even if there are better options, they are rarely used.

This is why Hilti developed the Product Impact Analyzer.

“We provide customers with CO₂ data for most of the products they buy from us. Our data covers over 90 percent of global Hilti net sales through Environmental Product Declarations, life cycle assessments or similar CO₂ data formats. This level of coverage makes sustainability data more accessible and actionable, with estimated CO₂ footprints available for almost every Hilti product,” Barry explains. “Just as important, we make the data usable. Customers get structured datasets and clear dashboards. They can look at a project and compare options or analyze their purchasing without building everything themselves.”

Driving business impact

Our sustainability managers across the globe run the Product Impact Analyzer more than a thousand times each year.

“Entire purchase portfolios are reviewed against carbon data requirements. With our product impact analysis service, Hilti can provide the estimated CO₂ footprint data for extensive product lists in a structured, consistent format.”

With sustainability being top of mind on data center projects, for example, the Product Impact Analyzer is used during the design stage. Engineers can compare the carbon impact of different Hilti products and solutions for the same application using Hilti product data, helping them make informed decisions early, when changes still have the greatest impact.

Sustainable construction decisions

Sustainability that works

Sustainability that can help your business grow and leads to better buildings is our goal.

“We’re fighting the misconception that sustainable construction is simply more paperwork, more compliance, more costs. The reality is that sustainability and successful businesses share many key principles, such as waste avoidance and data-driven decision-making.”

Driving down carbon and costs often go hand-in-hand because both depend on doing more with less. That’s where our Product Impact Analyzer comes in. Customers get the precise, trusted data they need to prove the estimated CO₂ impact of their decisions long before the concrete starts flowing.
