Hillos GmbH Moves to New Location in Jena

Jena (GER) / Schaan (FL), November 25, 2025 – The new Hillos GmbH facilities in Jena, Germany, were officially opened yesterday. This subsidiary of the Hilti Group is responsible for the production of high-precision laser measuring devices and positioning systems.

“We strive to be a great employer for everyone, everywhere. With the opening of this new production facility, we will be better able to fulfill this aspiration for our Hillos team members. The new facility will create an ideal environment for collaboration and will strengthen our ability to develop and produce innovative measuring systems, and thus support our mission to make construction better for our customers worldwide,” said Thomas Hillbrand, member of Hilti’s Executive Board, in his opening speech.

The building, owned by W.S. Gewerbebau GmbH, which specializes in commercial real estate, is leased to Hillos on a long-term basis. At Hillos, a specialized team precisely assembles, tests and calibrates the most sophisticated measuring technology devices in the Hilti portfolio. At the heart of the facility are the dust-free, temperature- and humidity-controlled clean room for device assembly, and the 60-meter-long testing field, which are essential for manufacturing the high-precision total stations and laser scanners that Hilti produces in Jena. These digital solutions are the link for transferring digital plans to the construction site, capturing the current progress at the jobsite and integrating the as-is state back into the planning process. The new building, which has a total of 6,500 m² of floor space, also houses offices, logistics areas and various recreation and meeting areas, such as a cafeteria.

Wilfried Röpke, from the Jena Economic Development Agency, said: “It is a great commitment to our location that Hillos GmbH continues to enrich the innovation landscape in Jena. I see this as a promising sign that we have a sustainable technology region that can rely on its highly qualified specialists.”

The building services concept was designed to completely eliminate the need for fossil fuels. The facility is powered by solar energy, heat pumps and heat recovery systems, reflecting Hilti's commitment to sustainable production processes.

Hillos GmbH was founded in 2003 as a joint venture between Hilti and Jenoptik Optical Systems GmbH. Since 2023, Hillos has been wholly owned by the Hilti Group.
