OPENING A WINDOW ON TECHNOLOGY FOR YOUNG WOMEN

Schaan (FL), September 19, 2017 – Hilti Corporate Headquarters is playing host to a two-day event aimed at generating enthusiasm and interest in technology for young women. This marks the 14th time that Hilti has hosted such an event. On Monday and Tuesday 36 participants, all of whom are in their 8th year of school either in Liechtenstein or from the surrounding region, were registered for the event. In addition to the general information provided on technical vocations and a group discussion, the participants also had a close look at the practical side of the polymechanic and design engineer profiles. With the support of current Hilti apprentices, the participants created a CAD drawing, on the basis of which they fashioned a brass cube.

Marta Costa, who studies at the secondary school in Triesen, Liechtenstein, took advantage of “young women’s technology day” to help give herself an overview. “I particularly liked creating a technical drawing just like an actual design engineer. I want to have as much information as possible before deciding on a vocation, so I decided to attend young women’s technology day at Hilti. All of us received a practical insight and it was very informative.”

For Remo Kluser, head of Vocational Training at Hilti, the annual technology day for young women is an important event to “eliminate reservations and inhibition thresholds. If we want to get young women excited about technological vocations we must ensure that they have easy access to these topics.”
